DAKS
Me and a pal went to our semi-annual pilgrimage to Daks, a fine establishment in Wickliffe that seems to call all kinds. The spectrum of humanity there is like a people zoo.
One gal there would, whenever there was a song to her liking, would whistle so loud that I had to cover my ears. She did that whistle thing where you stick two fingers in your mouth to make a piercing whistle. I think it was a call to all area hillbillies that only they can hear to come to Daks.
As I was enjoying people watching I noticed a gentleman with a cane stumbling his way towards the bathroom. He had a swollen foot. How did I know it was swollen? It was because he didn’t wear a sock or shoes on his swollen foot. He just strolled around barefoot. And yes, to the bathroom he went. His one foot had a sock and shoes on it. I’m thinking his foot was numb from being so swollen that perhaps he didn’t notice the stickiness of the bathroom floor.
When my friend went out for a smoke break he heard a gal offer him a sock but he turned her down. Perhaps he thought the swollen bare foot would draw him some attention from the female patrons. He apparently messed it up because a branch went through it. But instead of resting it at home, he had to go to Daks. I think line dances were out for him for the evening.
It was bike night and they had cones cordoning off part of the parking lot. There were a total of two bikes there. So much for a successful bike night. I could’ve filled it out some by riding my Huffy there. I could then proudly stand next to my bike and field questions by all the admirers. I could tell them how the tassels on the side keep away flies just a tail does with a horse. I could then turn it over and crank the peddles to make ice cream. I’d hand out imaginary ice cream to the people outside for a smoke.
We got back in the car and it smelled awful. Was it swollen foot guy’s feet stench wafting over our way? Turns out there was a bad peach in the package I got from Aldis. I hate when that happens. I spend plenty of time finding the perfect package to make sure they are all ok. No bruises, cuts, or foreign objects like mold and tumors. Nothing squished. Hmm, sounds like the same things I check for when I drink too much the night before.
