Look for 15% off car seat, stroller, or travel system coupon in ad.

BUEHLERS
Don’t forget that Buehlers doubles coupons of 99 cents and less.

CVS
Toms deodorant, toothpaste or mouthwash – 99 cents after $3 extrabuck
Cadbury creme egg – free after extrabucks – through Tuesday 1/31 only
American Greetings cards – free after $3 extrabucks with purchase of three 99 cent cards
Digiorno pizza – BOGO – 2/$5.49 after $2/2 coupon – use with $12.50 rebate beer rebate with purchase of 9 pack or larger of Miller beer. I found a 12 pack of Miller at Giant Eagle for $8.99. So 2 pizzas and the beer you get it all for $1.98!

I got a great tip from John T, a faithful reader, that pointed out that at CVS you can only need to spend 98% of $30 to receive the $10 gift card deals. The deal prints at 29.40 or above, so if you just wanted to buy 5 Bounty at $5.99 each (a recent deal) for a total $29.94 would still get you the gift card. This same 98% works on regular extrabuck deals too. If it says you need to spend $10 on something to get $3 extrabucks, you get the $3 extrabucks if you buy 9.80 or more, so bottom line 98% = 100%!

GIANT EAGLE

Hellmans – $3 plus use .25 coupon (doubles)

HH GREGG
Employee family pricing storewide – some decent TV deals with discount.
LG Laundry pair – $100 coupon in ad

JC PENNEY
JC Penney recently announced that they are scrapping percentage-off sales and coupons. Instead, they will offer everyday low prices. They will also have a best prices promotion on the first and third Friday of every month to coincide with when people get their paycheck. Seasonal promotions will also be offered.

Some stores like Wal-mart and Marcs offer everyday low prices, so it will be of interest to see if JC Penney will spur new sales with their new strategy. Wal-mart has been struggling to spur sales too, so I don’t think JC Penney will do any better, especially when people will only shop twice a month at JC Penney’s when they offer their best deals on alternate Fridays. Friday is not the best day to go shopping either since it is the end of the workweek and most people want to go out to eat or go home and not go shopping. Some stores do get predictable with their sales so sometimes people aren’t spurred to shop there. Stay tuned to see how this change does for JC.

ARE YOU FIXED?
Did you switch to the variable rate yet for your natural gas? Fixed natural gas rates under NOPEC are $5.95/mcf. If you have a variable rate it is $4.06/mcf. Natural gas prices keep dropping so the variable rate reflects a lower rate for that reason. NOPEC, the consortium of communities offering lower natural gas prices, can be reached at 1-888-848-7914. If you don’t belong to NOPEC, call your gas provider to see what they offer for a variable rate as compared to the fixed rate.

SENIOR DEALS
One of the things I can look forward to getting older is more discounts! Senior discounts come at age 50 and older. It pays to ask for the discount as most stores offer them. It’s not like getting carded when I was 21, but the first time someone asks me if I qualify for a senior discount I will have to rap them with my cane. Eventually my hurt pride will be overcome with joy with the new savings. The list below shows what discounts businesses will give to seniors. Some may vary by store or may change. Ask the manager about the discount to verify they offer one.

TOP TEN THINGS I TELL PEOPLE IN PRIVATE
10) I’m really an alien and my peoples have a message to earth. The message is for people to stop posting what daily chores they are doing on Facebook.

9) I’m really uncomfortable when we go out to the bars after you’ve had a unicorn and rainbow painted on your face at the festival.

8) Is everything ok? Because it seems your nose is whistling a much higher octave than I’m used to. I normally don’t want to stuff bologna in my ears to blunt the shrillness of it.

7) Please don’t bring beer to the movies.

6) Do you mind moving your chair over some. Your nose hair is still in my soup.

5) Did I ever tell you about the story of a friend of mine with astoundingly great distance projecting food and spittle from their mouth while I ate dinner and had a conversation with them. Please pass the carrots.

4) I noticed that you didn’t chat any during dinner and instead were texting. So I’m sure you won’t mind while I read today’s comics section out loud, especially the hilarious Family Circus one.

3) Hey, that bad breath of yours… I don’t mind it, but it is melting the erasers on my pencil.

2) Please stop yelling at me when you get upset. It keeps me from hearing the voices in my head that say I should kill you.

1) You look really good with a beard, but I think that it clashes with that dress that you are wearing. (the least funny one always seems to be number 1)
