\nWho uses coupons the most? You’d think it would be those on low income. Not true. Studies have found middle-income earners and higher use coupons more often than those earning lower income. <\/p>\n

How can that be? Part of it is that in order to save you need resources to get coupons. That being those via a smartphone, PC, laptop, printer, newspapers, etc. All those cost money or disposable income that lower income folks may not have. <\/p>\n

Some of it may be that those earning more were brought up in families where coupons were used more often, so they are just doing what comes natural to them. In essence, just like anything that is a habit, it has to be learned. The best time to save money is when you don’t need to, even when you earn enough not to use coupons! <\/p>\n


\n\"Print<\/a><\/p>\n

\nNETFLIX PRICE INCREASE<\/strong>
\nNetflix raised prices. The cost for their standard plan will go from $8.99 to $9.99 per month.<\/p>\n

A similar service, Hulu offers their plan at $7.99 per month with limited commercials and $11.99 per month with no commercials.<\/p>\n


\n\"Match.com<\/a><\/p>\n

\nWALMART STRUGGLING<\/strong>
\nWal-mart’s stock price plummeted after they announced future earnings to be lower than expected. Wal-mart raised wages and is spending money on their e-commerce initiatives, so that hurt earnings. They are also struggling to keep up with more nimble competitors that can adjust to changes in customer shopping behavior. <\/p>\n

Wal-mart also can’t creep up prices as competitors are keeping them honest with lower prices. Wal-mart wouldn’t need a price-matching policy otherwise and that is their way to still keep those customers that shop for the lower price coming back to Walmart. <\/p>\n

As employers struggle to find enough workers with competition for low-wages employees they can’t cut back all that easily. They need people to stock shelves and have enough cashiers so that customers don’t fret and walk out of the store. <\/p>\n

Go to many retailer or restaurant you will see a now hiring sign on their door. Wages catching up after many years of stagnating wages have finally caught up with many retailers and now the sudden earnings hits are causing stock prices to go down, but now the competition for workers keeps them from keeping wages down. Workers that were plentiful during the Great Recession have made some companies believe there are still tons of workers that will accept any wage. Ohio just announced a 4.5% unemployment rate. So not anymore. Companies that don’t adjust to this reality will see their best workers leave in droves otherwise.<\/p>\n

Coming next year the exempt pay law will change after many years of the qualifying salary not keeping up with inflation. Employees making around $50K per year or less can’t be exempt (salaried) and must be paid overtime. Many of Wal-mart’s workers may fall into that category. So some workers will have to get paid more in order to work the same number of hours they normally do or some workers will get paid more overtime. If some companies then decide to overwork those on salary they may get backlash and end up losing productive employees that can’t easily be replaced.<\/p>\n
