BAD BEHAVIOR <\/strong>
\nPeople have reasons why they don’t do things they should or act in ways they shouldn’t. When asked why I acted the way I did my reply is usually that I had too much Sudafed and was loopy. But why should my excuse always cover my behavior?<\/p>\n

People justify their actions, whether it harmful to someone else or something. Anything can be justified in ones mind, so it’s easy to do. But if you have a conscious it may cause you to second guess yourself so that you don’t make a decision based on selfish logic. <\/p>\n

For instance, I wanted to verbally chastise a slow driver in the fast lane in front of me. How can they not realize that they are going too slow. I gestured heartily to show my disapproval. It probably just looked like I was trying to get a bee out of the car. <\/p>\n

Then again, they are safely going the speed limit. So my rules didn’t match theirs. I’m not always right and I shouldn’t expect everyone to go by my rules. <\/p>\n

I then use the Mr Rogers rule. What would Mr Rogers do? Remaining as calm as him probably would make life’s seemingly unjust and unfair twists and turns more mentally manageable. Just like he transformed himself into his calming sweater, maybe that is what I should do with my emotions at times. <\/p>\n

Do you think if Henrietta Pussycat would have a hissyfit if King Friday poked her in the eye with a stick. Of course, she most likely would. But what if Henrietta Pussycat blew her Salem cigarette smoke into Curious X the Owl’s face. After all, bad behavior shouldn’t be tolerated. And bad behavior shouldn’t beget bad behavior. What would Mr Rogers do? Grab the cigarette and snuff it into her forehead? Or maybe kindly ask why she did it? And then make her understand her actions so that she doesn’t do it again. <\/p>\n

Do you take kindly to being told about your bad behavior? Do you get angry when people tell you like it is? If they said it in a nicer way, just like Mr Rogers, would it make a difference. Or are you in the Land of Make Believe? It’s always better to act proper like Lady Elaine Fairchild and avoid the mental anguish that comes with realizing your bad behvior at a later time. <\/p>\n

So next time your are ready to go off the hook, have some chamomile tea and shortbread cookies to relax. And think, what would Mr Rogers do?<\/p>\n
