\nI usually shop at Kohls for my clothes since I get great deals there. At a recent trip I utilized a $5 off $5 or more coupon (mailed to me) and $10 off $25 coupon (in ad and mailed to me) along with a 30% off purchase deal they mailed to me. Plus I used a Kohls gift card that earned me Fuelperks at Giant Eagle.<\/p>\n

When I made the purchase the cashier mentioned that usually they would have to put it on their credit card for the deals rather than a gift card. It’s always hit or miss on whether they take them or not. This time she took them!<\/p>\n

I made a few purchases so that I could use the $10 off $25 coupon and the others to maximize the savings. The ad had the $10 off $25 coupon so I cut a few out. It’s easy to spend more than $25, however it waters down the deal. In essence it’s a 40% off eal if you stick to getting just $25 worth. The neat thing about one of my purchases was that it cost less than $25 after my 30% off coupon was applied, yet the cashier still took off the $10 off of $25 coupon! <\/p>\n

I paid $2.27 and saved $37.90.
\nI paid $17.24 and saved $148.04.
\nI paid $12.85 and saved $78.10.
\nI’ve done better before, but not too shabby.<\/p>\n

One thing to remind the cashier is to give them your Yes2YouRewards account. That way you can earn more savings. My cashier forgot to ask and I forgot to tell her. I had to call Kohls for them to add my purchases to my Yes2You rewards program account..<\/p>\n

\nTO ONLINE SHOP OR NOT TO ONLINE SHOP <\/strong>
\nEveryone wants to pay less for groceries. So would you shop at a store if their prices were lower at the store than on their online site? It happened with Wal-Mart recently when they adjusted their pricing. It’s cheaper for Wal-Mart to sell items in store rather than online, so they announced that most of their prices are cheaper in-store rather than online. <\/p>\n

I prefer shopping at a store for a variety of reasons. Buying groceries online can take time going through the thousands of item they sell. Plus I can use coupons in store and not online. In some cases stores will accept coupons for items purchased online. Giant Eagle does. I also get to pick and choose the best looking produce and meats. Sometimes I can find clearance deals and in-store only deals. Granted they have online only deals and online items are usually always in stock. It sometimes comes down to whether people want to deal with the headaches of shopping in a store or online.<\/p>\n

There is also a cost (unless you meet a minimum spend) to buy groceries online. Usually that means getting around 20 items just to get the service and\/or delivery free. That’s a lot of time plinking around a site to find the items I need. There is a good chance people will just fill their cart with full-priced items online just to not pay a fee. I usually save around 70% when I shop for groceries. That isn’t going to happen if I shop online for groceries.<\/p>\n

One other plus is that if people don’t shop at their local stores they will close. When you need something it’s great to have a store in the neighborhood. Plus it employs people in the community. Online stores usually don’t. I want a vibrant community with plenty of shopping options rather than empty shells of buildings housing pigeons.<\/p>\n

\nIt’s Thanksgiving time. Aside from stuffing yourself with inordinate amounts of food, it’s also a time to show appreciation and thanks. Are you appreciated for all you do? At home? At work? With family and friends? Conversely, is appreciation expected even when it may not be deserved? Now is a good time to show thanks to those that may have been overlooked for what all they do.<\/p>\n

Getting taken for granted happens to many people. Just ask any parents with kids. Having to ask to be appreciated takes the sincerity out of it. It’s nice to get it when you least expect it. <\/p>\n

This past year someone on my volleyball team that I coach and play on told me how much they love playing on the team and thanked me for all I do with it. They really enjoyed the chemistry of the team and how we have fun and yet win. She was very sincere. I never expected to hear that and thought it was very nice of her to say it. For anyone that has coached a team they know how tough it can be dealing with different personalities and having to get subs and keeping everyone happy and being challenged while still winning. That being said, this past week we won the championship. Yay!<\/p>\n

Something as simple as making dinner often gets overlooked. It takes time and effort to make dinner. Then you might get a thumbs down on it because they don’t like what was made. Like as if anyone doesn’t like turnip, milk, fish and tripe stew! Have them trade places and make dinner instead and see how the react when you say you don’t like what was made. Trading places is a great equalizer.<\/p>\n

At work people may take you for granted for all you do. Does your boss know everything good you do? Usually not. Do they realize the efforts you have done to get your job done and to work with other people, especially difficult ones? Sadly, in some instances it seems like they only notice when you make a mistake and that gets magnified rather than the goods things you do.
\n

\nMillennials are a good barometer on what happens when workers don’t get appreciated or taken for granted. They saw their parents and others let go after many loyal years of hard work and they now realize that companies are no longer loyal to them, so they are only loyal to themselves. They unabashedly expect promotions and pay increases for the same reason.<\/p>\n

Sometimes people will even complain about something they instead should appreciate. They are quick to find fault and offer no solutions. They find it much easier to complain than compliment. We all know those types.
\n

\nAll that being said, it’s easy to overlook someone’s efforts and not appreciate what they did. In this busy world people move on to the next thing so quickly that they ignore what is in front of them.
\n

\nSome people fish for compliments. Sometimes it’s because they are insecure and need validation…or are narcissistic.
\n

\nWhen is the last time you told someone you appreciated what they did? Wrote a thank you letter? Or took time to tell someone’s manager about how someone did a great job? Or filled out a survey after getting great service? It really makes someone’s day when they get an unsolicited compliment. Sometimes I’ve been asked to fill out a survey and the worker hints at giving them high marks, sometimes undeserving, because that is part of how they are compensated.
\n

\nI remember my mom telling me to write thank you letters when I was young. I hated it. To me it was a chore. It still is, but now I know its value. <\/p>\n
