\nDid you notice a coupon this past week that was, umm out of left field? There was one for 47 cents off for Left Field milk in the Smartsource inserts. Not your typical 50 cents off coupon. Of course, they wanted to play up the name of the product with the amount on the coupon. If they wanted to be a rebel I would have preferred a $4.70 coupon, but 47 cents will do. <\/p>\n

Being that it is 47 cents it should double, right? Well, not really. It says Do Not Double on the coupon. However, the barcode isn’t coded not to double. A cashier will have to manually take off the double if they decide to do so. <\/p>\n

Another oddity. Some states don’t allow coupons on dairy products, so not every state received the coupon. States like Colorado, Maine, Missouri, and North Dakota don’t allow dairy coupons. Apparently some farmers wagged their finger at the thought of using a coupon for their milk and they passed a law to stop them from being distributed. Good thing there isn’t a toothpaste lobbyist cartel trying to stop me from getting all my coupon freebie toothpaste. <\/p>\n

\nYes, it’s true. I don’t have a smartphone. Neither does my wife. I can already see people twitching trying to process that thought. I’ll explain why.<\/p>\n

Back some years ago they had deals for cell phones where you would get them free or if you bought one you’d get another one free. So after years of doing so I was able accumulate a bit of a collection of cell phones. Every two years a contract would end I would get my freebies.<\/p>\n

Then those new-fangled smartphones starting to become standard fare for anyone getting a new phone. It was like getting a mini-computer and your phone all in one. Social media helped spur the need to have one. No more calling people when you can text and post on Facebook. I wouldn’t be surprised as humans that our voiceboxes shrivel up as we evolve.<\/p>\n

I’m on a computer all day. The last thing I want to do is to also have a computer technology device at a restaurant or while I’m driving. I need to disconnect. But there are times I wish I had one. They come in handy plus there are deals I’m missing not having one. However, there are ways around it.<\/p>\n

I can use a tablet that is fast and works great for a price of around $99 and I can get free WiFi so that I can surf the net when I am out and about. It doesn’t work while I’m driving and that is a good thing. I’ve seen way too many people weaving around lanes because they are on their smartphone. <\/p>\n

Here’s the main reason. Every time I checked to see how much it would cost us it comes out to around $1,000 more per year. That’s a lot of coin. I could’ve gotten my first smartphone around ten years ago, so I figure I saved at least $10,000. Was it worth it? You betcha! You don’t miss what you don’t have. The tablet works just as well when we are out as everyone has WiFi. We even booked an Uber using the tablet. There’s ways around everything.<\/p>\n

The next question is when am I going to have to get a smartphone because my stash of cell phones is almost depleted. I figure I can still buy a new one for $50 or less. Still way cheaper than getting a Smartphone.<\/p>\n

I know there are a few other people out there that only have a cell phone. There aren’t many of us. We’re as rare as a store that only sells bowties for cats.<\/p>\n

\nCARDIAC CAVS <\/strong>
\nI was watching the Cavs playoff game this past Sunday and as usual they were maddening to watch. I was cursing at every bad move or missed shot. Seeing that I was getting a bit amped up I decided to take my blood pressure. I happened to have one of those portable ones that you wrap around your wrist right near me on the table. I knew it would be high because my heart was racing, but I was a bit surprised as how high it got.<\/p>\n

When I put it on it kept inflating. Usually it stop around 160 or so and gives a reading. This time it kept going higher and higher and past 200. I thought maybe it was messed up. It wasn’t. The reading popped up of 225 over 114. Oh boy. <\/p>\n

I was working in the yard all day hauling dirt and logs and I’m sure that didn’t help either. However, I blame it on the Cavs and their maddening habits on the court and how they must be in cahoots with the Cleveland Clinic to get more patients. Thankfully they won and I’m sure my blood pressure dropped precipitously after that. It did take awhile to calm down so that I could fall asleep. I should have thought of rainbows, lavender and kittens or told Mr. Sandman I would tip him generously for getting me to sleep sooner.<\/p>\n

For those of us that watched the Browns during the Kardiac Kids era you know what I am talking about when watching home teams drive you nuts. It was never a blowout win. It was always last minute just like the Cavs are doing now. They get a huge lead and the relinquish it. Missed easy shots, clunked free throws, not running out to contest a shot on the 3 point line. Listening to Austin Carr doesn’t help. He is always crabbing about the team. Rightfully so, but my heart doesn’t need more egging on.<\/p>\n

So Cavs, how about some easy wins. I’d like to see you in the finals again and not in a hospitable bed. Thank you in advance. GO CAVS!!!!<\/p>\n
