Listening to the wise man at the mountain top, priest, psychologist, guru, or friend that always has it going on can help people avoid those pitfalls. <\/p>\n

Some of the best inventions and discoveries came about because people failed and kept trying. Plenty of sports figures struggled before they figured out the game. However, would you go to a doctor that had a horrible track record of healing people or botching surgeries before they got it right? Yeah, me neither. Would you get married to someone that was divorced ten times. Nope. Would you prefer someone to be President of the U.S. or for the company you work for that has had a successful business life or one that has failed many times. You see what I mean. So failure has its boundaries. <\/p>\n

Track records mean something. It’s like a life resume. Companies take a look at your background because it’s a good indicator of future performance.<\/p>\n

For one thing, people don’t always learn their lessons even when given good advice. There is a higher percentage of divorce after people get married their second or third time. The recidivism rate for people that go to jail is over 60%. People still drink too much at times after having plenty of hangovers. So what good is advice if people don’t take it? There is something deep that has to trigger for people to stop doing what harms them most.<\/p>\n

Even growing up people that give advice or direction to kids do them wrong. School Guidance counselors are well known to tell students that they are not worthy of certain fields, only for them to excel in the field and prove them wrong. Some parents even berate their kids saying they are worthless. It’s really those parents that should be taking advice to become a better parent and for not instilling confidence in an impressionable child.<\/p>\n

Amazingly, some of the most popular figures out there that give advice have stumbled in their own life in their field.
\nThe current Dear Abby, Dr Laura, Dr Phil – all divorced, yet they are the most well-known givers of relationship advice.
\nDave Ramsey, finance advice guru, went through a foreclosure and declared bankruptcy.
\nLucy from the Peanuts comic gave advice for 5 cents yet she and Charlie Brown don’t get along worth a lick.<\/p>\n

Does past history predict future results? As they say, those that forget history are doomed to repeat it. But some of the folks above have done pretty good for themselves in life even after stumbling. Some maybe not so much.<\/p>\n

The key is to take advice with a grain of salt. Everyone’s experience is different and views are different too. Everyone can agree that a certain problem needs to be fixed, but not everyone can agree on the way to do it. As great advice-giver Confucious says, Man who jumps off cliff, jumps to conclusion! <\/p>\n

\nGIANT EAGLE CHANGES <\/strong>
\nMy Giant Eagle in Willoughby Hills is closing. Ugh. I would stop there on the way home from work. Apparently, their lease was up and the store didn’t make enough per square foot to stay open. Businesses always close underperforming stores, but now there isn’t a big grocer for miles from that spot – around 5 miles away adding around a half hour roundtrip to the other Giant Eagles. Hey, Meijer or Kroger, might be a good spot to move into! The owner cleaned up the shopping center putting big bucks into it after all. Aldi hasn’t signed the paperwork yet, but they are supposed to move into the old Sears Hardware on Bishop Road and that will take some of the sting out of them closing the store.<\/p>\n

Now I have to go to another Giant Eagle which will have to be the one in Willoughby. It’s somewhat out of the way, but if I sill want to shop there it will have to do. The one at Great Lakes mall will eventually be closing to make way for the one opening off of Route 615 in Mentor. That also means the days of the Giant Eagle in Mentor-on-the-Lake are limited as it’s only a couple miles up the road. That means there isn’t a big grocer near the mall now and there is a ton of customer traffic in that area. The Willoughby Giant Eagle is around 5 miles away and the new one is over 3 miles away.<\/p>\n

The Giant Eagle in Crocker Park will be a Market District store. Market District is a bit fancier than a normal Giant Eagle, almost like a Heinen’s.<\/p>\n

\nNEW YEAR RESOLTIONS <\/strong>
\nIt’s that time of the year again to make resolutions to fix up what is wrong and to make a better you. Here are mine:<\/p>\n
