\nRollin’ with expired tags? Get to your BMV quick, because the extension allowing people to drive with expired tags is ending on July 1st. Ohio drivers must renew their driver licenses, IDs, or vehicle registrations by then. Ohio drivers with an expiration date on or after March 9, 2020 had been exempted during the COVID-19 emergency.<\/p>\n

\nNEW FIREWORKS LAW <\/strong>
\nOhio is on its way to change its fireworks law. It was known as the “liars law” since you had to sign a form that said that you would leave the state within 48 hours to shoot it off. Well, nobody really followed that law, so recently the Ohio House and Senate passed a new law. It allows you to light off fireworks during holidays and the weekends before and after the holiday.<\/p>\n

Many cities are having fireworks this year after putting it on the shelf last year. Baseball games are a great way to see them too. Another way to see fireworks is to bring up politics during a family get-together.<\/p>\n

The legislation would also create an Ohio Fire Code Rule Recommendation Committee to review changes to the state fireworks law, and impose a 4% fee on purchases of consumer fireworks to pay for firefighter training programs<\/p>\n

Under the bill, fireworks can be set off only on certain days. It would be limited to New Year\u2019s Eve, New Year\u2019s Day, Chinese New Year, Cinco de Mayo, Memorial Day weekend, Juneteenth, July 3, 4, and 5, as well as the Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays preceding and following; Labor Day weekend, and Dewali, a festival of lights celebrated by Hindus, Sikhs and Jains.<\/p>\n
