\nDOWNTOWN CLEVELAND PARKING CHANGES <\/strong>
\nPaying for parking downtown is changing. Not only will you now able to pay digitally, but prices are on the way up and free parking will be limited. At the end of this month, Clevelanders will be able to use their phones to pay for parking instead of using coins. However, some free parking will now be limited.<\/p>\n

Using the app to pay for parking will be through a service on the ParkMobile app, which is free to download on the Apple App store or Google Play. Or, if you don’t have a smart phone, you can also call 1-877-727-5009 to set up an account and pay by phone.<\/p>\n

At the West Side Market, free parking on market days drops from 90 minutes to 60 minutes and the parking fee increases from $1 per hour to \u201cup-to\u201d $3 per hour after that.\t\t<\/p>\n

Standard parking rates remain at $1.00 per hour, maximum session of two hours unless otherwise stated on posted signage. Institutional areas are $.75 per hour, maximum session of four hours unless otherwise stated on posted signage. Meters will be able to be adjusted based on demand\t\t<\/p>\n

Parking meter enforcement will cease downtown between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m., meaning it will cost you to park on the street for an extra four hours in the evening. \nTHE BEST HAPPY HOUR? <\/strong>
\nCleveland Magazine’s “Best of Cleveland” edition lists the best Happy Hours in the Cleveland are. Here is the list:
\n1) Lago
\n2) Burntwood
\n3) All Saints Public House (tie)
\n3) Centro at the 9 (tie)
\n

\nHere’s the kicker. Centro at 9 doesn’t have a happy hour anymore! Plus the happy hour at All Saints is only $3 off appetizers and some minor drink specials. Hardly the best happy hour. You have to wonder if they “stuffed the ballot” on those votes. Burntwood has also watered down its happy hour deals. The apps used to be half off and now they are $8. Drink prices are higher too.<\/p>\n

\nRITE AID DECLARES BANKRUPTCY <\/strong>
\nRite Aid has declared bankruptcy. They plan to close at least 400 to 500 over their over 2,000 stores. They have $135 million in cash at hand and secured $3.45 billion in financing, so they will still be in business.<\/p>\n

Part of the reason they declared bankruptcy is because they were fined millions for unlawfully filling opioid prescriptions. Walgreens and CVS were also fined, but they aren’t deep in debt like Rite Aid. <\/p>\n

They announced 134 closing with 4 in Ohio. They include: ; Dayton, 146 Woodman Drive; Massillon, 3129 Lincoln Way East; New Carlisle (northeast of Dayton), 120 S. Main St.; Youngstown, 2701 Market St.<\/p>\n

\"LEGO<\/a><\/p>\n

\nGIFT CARD O’RAMA <\/strong>
\nMy GetGo Fuel Rewards are at the highest they’ve ever been. I have to redeem $24.20 worth before they expire! Since I am on the old Perks program I can still redeem 30 gallons worth of gas, so I’ll be saving $726! How did I get such a high total? Gift cards to buy a generator!<\/p>\n

I live in Willoughby Hills and it seems like every big storm we lose power. It’s gotten better, but it still happens frequently enough. It’s a huge issue during the heat of summer and also the cold of winter because you could lose everything to spoilage in the freezer and also freeze the house in the winter. We had some quotes for generators and it was always too expensive, so we didn’t get one in the past.<\/p>\n

We had Lowes quote and they quoted a great price, especially for a whole house generator. I did all my negotiating tricks to see if they could give me more off and he wasn’t biting. Then he tells us that the 10 year warranty deal they had going on expired at the end of the day. Was it a gimmick? Did I want to chance it? I knew they do 7 year warranty deals and that the 10 year deal was temporary, so we had to make a quick decision. I pulled up some old quotes and found the prices were much higher in the old quotes and for a lesser unit! A recent quote we got was much higher. I asked the salesguy if he can throw in a clearance plant from the Garden Center. He laughed and said no. I knew I got the best deal I could. We needed a generator, so I bit the bullet.<\/p>\n

To make it a better deal I bought gift cards from Giant Eagle to get Fuelperks. They were doing 2X Perks for dining gift cards, but I was able to finagle it to work for Lowes. They had a All in One gift card that was good for a ton of restaurants, but it was also good for some stores. It qualified for the 2X Perks because it was a “dining” gift card. I then found out the limitations of buying thousands worth of gift cards.<\/p>\n

I first had to figure out how much I could put on our credit cards. I did a $500 gift cards just to make sure it worked to get 2X Perks redeeming it for Lowes. It did. I then had to see how much I could put on one credit card. I first called my credit card to find out. They didn’t have a limit, but I got transferred to the fraud department to let them know I was making the transaction. It got stopped initially, but the department was able to “approve” it while I was on the phone. It worked, so I then had to redeem the cards and I got a scare there.<\/p>\n

They were egift cards (not the physical card) and as I was redeeming them I noticed that they didn’t show up as available right away. I called the gift card company and they said give it 15 to 20 minutes. They did eventually show up. I got some more using other credit cards and also found out the limit was $9,999. Then I noticed the cards weren’t activating all that quick. Another freak out as I got an answer I wasn’t expecting.<\/p>\n

I called the gift card company again and this time they said it sometimes took 24 to 48 hours for a card to activate. What happened to the 15 to 20 minutes! I didn’t want to be stuck with all the gift cards and not able to use them for this large purchase I had to make that day.<\/p>\n

I then got an email that Giant Eagle stopped the transaction. By then I had plenty enough of the gift cards, so I didn’t want to chance the deal not working. We went up to Lowes and they scanned all the gift cards I had. Everything worked. Phew!<\/p>\n

If I end up not being able to use all the rewards before they expire on Fuelperks, I can use them as Foodperks for a discount on groceries. Or maybe I will sell the excess gas at a flea market.<\/p>\n
