\nSam\u2019s Club will hike membership fees in May. Basic Club memberships will jump from $50 to $60, with Plus members to pay $120 annually<\/p>\n

\nNEW AIRLINE IN CLEVELAND <\/strong>
\nAvelo airlines will offer twice weekly nonstop service out of Cleveland Hopkins to Concord, North Carolina, and New Haven, Connecticut, beginning June 19, 2026. They will operate on Mondays and Fridays.<\/p>\n

\nBAGGAGE FEES INCREASE <\/strong>
\nDelta, United Airlines, Scandinavian airlines, Air France, and JetBlue along with other airlines have all announced price increases for checked bags due to higher fuel costs. Delta baggage fees for the first checked bag will rise by $10 to $45, the second by $10 to $55, and the third by $50 to $200.<\/p>\n

Getting an airline’s credit card is one way to avoid costly baggage fees. Many offer first check bags free with their credit card. Some credit cards also offer additional benefits, including annual credits for airfare, airline incidental credits, increased discounts on award flights. <\/p>\n

\nTSA WAIT TIMES <\/strong>
\nAfter the government ended funding TSA until a spending bill is passed the TSA airport wait times jumped, some as high as 4 to 5 hours! Best to check an airport’s TSA wait times before your flight. Find them here: https:\/\/www.tsawaittimes.com<\/a> or check the airport’s web-site itself.<\/p>\n

Although temporary funding did get funneled to TSA agents it doesn’t mean lines will shrink. Over 500 agents quit during the funding debacle. It takes at least 4 months for new agents to be trained, so it will take time for airports to get back to full staffing levels. Not that anyone would want a job that constantly doesn’t get funded.<\/p>\n

\nCHEAPING OUT <\/strong>
\nBrad Reese, grandson of Reese’s founder H.B. Reese, recently spoke out about Reese’s allegedly using cheaper ingredients. He claimed that Hershey replaced milk chocolate with compound coatings and peanut butter with peanut butter\u2011style cr\u00e8me across multiple Reese’s offerings. Hershey’s, Reese’s owner, took note and are making changes.<\/p>\n

Their KitKat recipe is changing to a creamier chocolate, transitioning sweets portfolio to colors from natural sources and ensuring that all Hershey’s and Reese’s offerings are consistent with their brands, classic milk and dark chocolate recipes. They will swap out a chocolate compound coating in Reese’s and Hershey products by 2027.<\/p>\n

H.B. Reese invented the Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup in 1928 in Hershey, Pennsylvania. His six sons sold the business to Hershey in 1963 for a reported $23.5 million in stock, equivalent to a roughly 5% stake in Hershey at the time.<\/p>\n

Many other food companies have also cheaped out on their ingredients. Either that or their portions are smaller without a reduction in price. For instance, Stouffers Mac & Cheese afficionados have noted how that recipe has changed. I noticed too. Quality suffers and customers stop buying the product. Restaurants do the same thing when business slows. Smaller portions and cheaper ingredients, but then people notice quality dropping and then it just speeds up the process for them to close. <\/p>\n

Increasing fuel prices will only exacerbate it all. Inflation hit a two year high last month and fuel price increases still haven’t worked their way through the supply chain. <\/p>\n

The size of candy bars has shrank over the years. King size bars are what regular sized bars were decades ago. Fun size are just not fun and should be called sad size.<\/p>\n
