Answer: TRUE! I got a base hit off of him at a Suiteholder appreciation day game. It was a day where I got asked to participate in the day where we shagged fly balls a Jacobs field, fielded balls in the infield and played a game. I got to go because I ran Corporate Challenge for our company for many years – it’s a thankless task, so I appreciated that I got picked to go as thanks. <\/p>\n

I played softball my whole life, so I took a ton of batting practice before the day. Baseball is much different than softball. Baseballs move so much faster and you have to get your timing down. I just didn’t want to embarass myself. I took batting practice at Jacobs field too that day and was happy to actually hit some balls out of the infield. <\/p>\n

During the game I came to bat against Len Barker. To me hitting a baseball was still like trying to throw a ball through a Cheerio. I wanted to crack the ball. I took a pitch or two to get my timing down before I took a swing. I hit one that fell into the outfield. I was giddy and wanted to keep running until I got to home base, but I stayed at first after a heavy turn. I wanted to steal a base too, but there was someone on second. <\/p>\n

The crazy thing that happened after that was that the DVD that was made of the day got stolen out of my car when someone broke into it! Thankfully the Indians and my work were able to get me another one. In the video they also show me flagging down a tough fly out – and they repeated like a you’d see in an MTV video. I’d tag it on this blog, but I think I need the expressed written consent of Major League baseball.<\/p>\n
