\nFederal regulators on Wednesday accused satellite giant DirecTV of deceptive advertising for not clearly disclosing that a discounted $25 12-month package required a two-year contract that included a rate hike to $45 and large early cancellation fee. The early cancellation fee was $20 for each month remaining on a contract. Also, an offer for three free months of premium channels such as HBO and Showtime didn’t adequately disclose that customers would automatically be charged for them after the trial period unless they called to cancel.<\/p>\n

\nFISH SHENANIGANS<\/strong>
\nSome seafood being sold by supermarkets, restaurants, and sushi restaurants are being mislabeled. A study by Oceana found that 87% of red snapper, 59% of white tuna, and between a third to one-fourth of halibut, grouper, cod, and Chilean Sea Bass was mislabeled. Sushi restaurants fared worst at 74%, then restaurants at 38% and grocery stores at 18%. The government tests a small sample, around 2%, to make sure seafood isn\u2019t substituted for a cheaper variety. Be sure that you are getting the quality of seafood you are paying for. <\/p>\n

Another fishy thing is the miniscule amounts of fish you get in the breaded Gorton’s or VanDeKamp’s boxed fish. There is piles more breading than there is fish. My tropical fish are more meaty than what they sell in those boxes! Plus the box is so huge for the amount of fish in the box. I can drive my car and park in the extra space in those boxes. <\/p>\n
