OLD MEN DANCING<\/strong>
\nBack in the day when I used to go to The Basement in the Flats there was this old guy in his seventies or eighties that would be there frequently and would dance the night away. He smiled like there was no tomorrow and the young gals got a kick out of him and would fawn over him. He was skinny with glasses. His signature move was swinging his body from left to right. His energy was boundless. He stuck out being in a sea of youth while they drank the night away. All he did was dance and paid no attention to everything going on around him.<\/p>\n

I came to find he lived in Willowick when I met him while I was doing an Auxiliary Police duty for the city at the St Mary Magdelene festival. Very congenial guy and I believe his name was Joe also. Nice as can be. He has since passed.<\/p>\n

The reason that I am writing about this is because this past weekend I was reminded of him. I was at the Willoughby Brewing Company (try their Peanut Butter Coffee Porter, yum). The Spazmatics were playing (great fun 80’s band). In the sea of youth was not one, but a few old guys dancing the night away. The difference this time was that they were all creepy. One guy’s signature move was like a choo-choo train thing that you do with you arms and he would creep up on women. Hello! I am directly behind you now on your blind spot! He looked like he was on a prison release program. The look on his face was a cross between him being in pain and the joy of eating a bag of Cheetos.<\/p>\n

Another guy was doing some weird thing like he was sweeping the floor with his hands. Maybe he was checking for dropped change on the floor. If that was the case, then that makes him slightly less creepy. He was wearing a baseball cap. He seemed to be competing for attention as the Alpha old dancing guy. Sorry, but there should be only one old dancing guy per nightclub. More than one then it makes people uncomfortable. I suggest that they put a sign out front indicating that allows only one creepy Dancing Old Guy per night. <\/p>\n

There seemed to be enough young creepy guys too that were trying to glob onto groups of girls that it reminded me of watching one of the National Geographic shows where they show a lone female frog fending off tons of male suitors in an odd mating ritual.<\/p>\n

It also reminded me of the old SNL skit where Will Ferrel and some other guys would crowd a gal and bump into them while they were dancing around her. Perhaps these guys were just like them when they were younger.<\/p>\n

One blonde girl was dancing like she was exorcising a demon from within herself. Another one was being silly and very comical in her moves. She had a face that looked like it was telling a joke. I was having a hard time figuring out who to pay attention to since they were all so very entertaining.<\/p>\n

Perhaps Viagra has made these seniors frisky. Now that I think of it I never see an old dancing women at these nightclubs. Only men. If a women’s Viagra is invented they will have to remember the one old person per dance floor rule or at least only one creepy old person. <\/p>\n
