I was at Old Mill Winery trying to use up the last of the Our Town coupons before they expired. They had some TVs on and one of them had the channel 19 WOIO news on. We just placed our order for some wine when I noticed on the one TV that the segment I was on with Denise Dufala came on. I didn’t know they were going to rerun it. I had to laugh. I even blushed. I usually don’t watch my segments but once, if that, just to make sure they didn’t get me picking my nose or something like that.
I filmed a clip with Catherine Bosely that aired on Wednesday, November 23rd. It was about online deals for Black Friday/Cyber Monday.
How did you do over Black Friday/Cyber Monday? I did freebie deals at Ace, Staples, Office Max, CVS, Walgreens, and Rite Aid. No waiting in line overnight for me. Not enough best deal items in stock for me to hang out in line to chance not getting them. Not enough mittens too for me to want to stand in line freezing.
CELL PHONE
I just got a new cellphone. For a profit! After your 2-year contract ends you are usually entitled to get a phone and there are usually a good handful that are free after instant rebate. However, they usually charge an upgrade fee. They wanted to charge $18. I tried to get them to do that over the phone, but they instead offered a $25 credit. Not enough to cover the two phones on our plan.
So afterwards I stopped at a local AT&T store to check out the phones and they offered the same free after rebate deal for the phones (no smartphone for me – the data plans are too expensive). The salesguy said he could credit the $18 charge on each phone to upgrade them. End of the month special he says. Usually it’s the reverse. I’ve been able to get the full credit over the phone and not in the store. Always pays to ask and not assume things are status quo.
