DEALS O’ THE WEEK, JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT AUCTION

a href=”https://joethecouponguy.com/blog1/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/ja1.jpg”>

JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT AUCTION
I’m being auctioned off again! I’ll go shopping with you at agreed upon locations where you can learn my tips and secrets to saving tons of money. The auction supports Junior Achievement.

Regarding JA, I’ve been a JA teacher for many moons. I teach the kids money saving ways, budgeting, and financial responsibility and they eat it up. The kids are in seventh grade and you’d be surprised at how much they appreciate learning it. Many parents and even schools don’t cover economics and how to manage your money, so the program I teach really benefits the kids. JA also teaches many other topics.

Auction begins: November 9th at 12:00 p.m.
Ends: November 16th at 8:00 p.m.

There are many other items being auctioned. Check them out here:
http://www.jacleveland.org/auction.html

Here is the link to bid on me. Bidding starts at $100.

< STRESS
There are a handful of times in life when you get hit hard by life’s events. Death in the family, major medical issues, and losing your job. We had one recently. My wife lost her job this past week. It was a surprise. She was not the only one let go. Her whole department and some others from other states were let go also. The banking industry she is in is volatile, especially commercial real estate.

In this tough economy it’s a scary thought to be without a job and have to look for one. Even more scary for those that don’t have a spouse whose income and insurance they can lean on when one of them loses a job. But I trust God will lead us through this.

Losing a job is something you know can happen and you make financial decisions knowing so. They say you should have at least 6 months of savings to get you through these times. But 6 months was about the amount of time it took to get a job in the past, but not now. There are a lot of people on year 2 without a job and it’s not for lack of trying. Luckily, the unemployment benefits have been extended. For those that think it’s a matter of just hitting the street and getting a job, think again. Better yet, quit your job it you think it’s so easy and see if you can get a job. Even people with MBAs are settling for menial work.

I hope all works out well in the end, but some belt-tightening is on the agenda. We might have to forage all the acorns that fell this past fall. I’ll wrestle with the chipmunks for them. I think I know where their hiding places are at too.

I’ll see if I can pay some bills by bartering. Perhaps Time Warner will trade their cable service for some chipmunk pelts. For heat we will put a cat in each armpit. For entertainment we will play marbles or dress in vintage clothing while strolling slowly around the neighborhood.

Ever wonder how bad stress is in your life? Take this test to see how you rate:

CHCHCHANGES
Cinemark in Willoughby Hills is converting to Phoenix Theaters (same as the one at Eastgate). Stinks because I loved Cinemark’s popcorn and great discounts on tickets. The other Cinemark location at Valley View isn’t even discounted as much. Time to look into getting discounted movie tickets from AAA, the Our Town book, and the Entertainment book.

AM/PM
Free any size coffee with coupon in the Wednesday PD. No purchase required.
