Throw out sales catalogs to avoid impulse purchases. For the same reason, don’t turn on the cable shopping channels or go to shopping malls. To get off mailing lists, contact the Opt-Out line at http://www.optoutprescreen.com or 1-888-567-8688. Another site, http://www.catalogchoice.org and http://www.dmachoice.org will for free get you off of mailing lists for catalogs. Avoid other temptations by blocking unsubscribing to retailer’s e-mails and blocking their web-sites.
Also, avoid purchasing items that make you feel remorse, guilt, or shame after purchase. Hiding purchases from a spouse is an example of such a behavior. Conversely, don’t go shopping to make yourself feel better. You may find you don’t even use the item you purchased.
EXPIRED COUPONS
Instead of tossing out all your coupons that recently expired on 12/31 send them to groups that will send them to the military overseas. They are allowed to use expired coupons up to six months old. Contact a local USO, VFW Hall, American Legion, or other local military groups to see if they can arrange for your coupons to be sent to the troops. Or go to http://www.ocpnet.org or http://www.ocp.usshorizon.net for information on donating your expired coupons through them. Also check your local American Legion Auxiliary Unit to see if they are accepting coupons for the troops.

Rocks again… dang, I lose
A LITTLE STORY
I was playing rock, paper, scissors with my cats. I found out I was signaling what I was going to do. When I would do rock I would make an angry face. When I did paper I would open my mouth real wide and have a surprised look. And when I would do scissors I would cough until my eyes watered. I found out I did these things because I was using a mirror while I combed my hair at the same time.
That mirror came in handy. I decided to use it to see what other things I did that I wasn’t aware of. I found out that when I made scrambled eggs for breakfast I would purse my lips. When I thatched my lawn I would smile a lot. And when I drove a car I found out I actually fall asleep for about 15 minutes.
I now use that mirror for everything since it helps me act and react better. I recommend a mirror for everyone. You will find out how the world sees you. It may not always match what you think you’re doing. And there is a good chance you will win rock, paper, scissors a ton more. So groovy.

FLIGHT COST COMPARISON SITES
I usually use kayak.com to check for the best flight prices since they check most airlines. A couple airlines are making it difficult. You have to check Southwest.com to get their pricing as they don’t participate on travel aggregator sites. Now American airlines are not compared on Orbitz. Expedia and Sabre Holdings (used by many travel agents) decided to yank American from their systems. Delta isn’t on CheapOAir.com, OneTravel.com and BookIt.com. Let’s hope they decide to get back on their systems.
