Giant Eagle came out with their new coupon policy. There was fear that they would do away with doubles, but that is not the case. They tightened up on what they allow. Here are some highlights of the policy:
No stacking a manufacturer coupon with an eOffer (it had been allowed before). Boo!
Only two like internet coupons. (Another reason why not to like internet coupons)
A limit of 12 like coupons.
No free or BOGO internet coupons.Coupon with a value over $3 not allowed.

Double coupons with a face value of 99 cents or less! Yay!

I noticed they had a get $5 off when you buy $20 worth of Smuckers products deal. Something new doing a deal that with with Heinens. Giant Eagle does it all the time. I’ve seen K-mart do it more as of late. In essence, the deal makes the items an additional 25% off. So if the item is on sale for $2, then it really is $1.50 with the $20 purchase deal.

WAREHOUSE CLUBS
Are you ok with paying a store just to have the privilege of shopping there? At some warehouse clubs that just got more expensive. Costco increased their membership fees by 10%. Members will now pay an annual fee of $55, up from $50. Executive members, who receive additional rewards such as an annual rebate check to use in the store based on what they spend, will now pay $110, up from $100. BJ’s raised its membership fee by $5 to $50 in January 2011 too. That’s about what I spend in a month on groceries!
Me, I don’t do warehouse clubs partly because they charge to shop there. They sell in bulk and that isn’t always cheaper. For instance, if you end up throwing out have of what you bought because it went bad before you could eat it, you just paid double of what you paid for that item. Plus most warehouse clubs don’t allow manufacturers coupon to be used.

A new survey at Match.com says 46% of women think it’s totally cool if a guy uses a coupon on a first date. My guess is that the 54% of women that said no, there was no second date. …because the guy thought the gal wasn’t cool!
