I bought some toner from them recently. Being that they are price matching other online sites like Amazon I tried to see if it would work. I looked up the price from Amazon and found it $24 cheaper. They had to verify it was the exact same item. It was so they price matched! Plus I used a $25 off coupon I had for it too! I also got a 10% Staples Rewards for a toner purchase.

Kate Gosselin, from Kate Plus 8 fame, is going to write about couponing for starting November 25th. I know she has to be a big couponer after she scolded John about not using a coupon. With 8 kids I’m sure she’s not happy about stores that have coupon limits of 5 or less. Welcome Kate to the coupon blogging world! New show: Kate Plus 8 Coupon Cutters. Then again, it eventually could be named: Kate Plus 8 Kids with Various Amounts of Fingers Left after Cutting Off Their Fingers from Cutting Coupons.

We went to the Fingerlakes recently. If you haven’t been there before, it’s a spectacular area in the middle of New York. Great country roads. Very scenic vistas. Wineries all over the place. Beautiful lakes. We like to go every year.

We used a Living Social certificate we got for the EB Morgan House in Auburn. Beautiful mansion along Cuyuga Lake. A $50 food voucher for the restaurant was included along with free breakfast. The meals were spectacular. They also had free cheese and wine socials at the B&B. The certificate was for around half off what it would normally cost plus the freebies. Well worth it.

Groupon and Living Social along with have great half off and more limited-time deals for a variety of locations across the U.S. and world. Groupon lists it under their Getaways section. Living Social lists it under Escapes. has a half off Deal of the Day.

Wine tastings there used to cost nothing. Now most every winery charges. Some give the tasting fee back if you purchase wine. Some charge $1 to $3 for a tasting. Some have you select a certain amount of wines to taste, although you can always ask them to give you additional tasting. Some pour you close to half a glass while some pour as much as little as a jellybean worth of wine. Most of the regions or lakes have a tasting passport that allows for tastings at each winery for a price, usually $10 to $15. The one problem is that not all wineries participate in the program. Depending on how many and which ones you go to it may or may not be worth it.

The Seneca Lake Wine Trail wineries in the Fingerlakes have a Bargain Bash from Jan 8 – 17, 2012. Many year-end clearance deals. From Dec 6, 2011 – March 31, 2012 you can get a Polar Passport that taste wines for free at participating wineries on the trail.

We tried to do mostly new wineries. Out of the bunch we tried the best wines were a Cabernet Franc from Chateau Dusseu in Locke, the Reislings from Herman Wiemer in Dundee, the Dry Riesling in Anyle in Skaneateles, and the Leon Millot (an inky red) from Keuka Lake in Hammondsport. Dr Frank also had some good ones. We also stopped at Markko’s winery along the way in Conneaut, Ohio and they have superb Chardonnay, Cab Sauv, and Reislings. Arnie from Markko’s was an understudy of Dr. Frank.

They have lots of breweries in the area now and also distilleries. Many cheese stores too. The distillery we stopped at had too many spirits that just made you make faces they were such high proof.

My favorite state for wine is Washington. Great wines, especially reds, and usually at a great price. Oregon has some great wines too. California is tops too. I’ve had wine from most every state too from Montana to West Virginia to Hawaii to Alaska. Some if is best as a souvenier or decoration.

I’m thinking of going with a different look again. I haven’t changed my look since I was a teenager when I parted my hair to the side. It was kinda like the Big Boy’s hair back then until I went with the combed back look to try to get my hair to feather. That was the look back then and I stuck with it. Why change a good thing. Through the years it morphed into a pompadour and then something a little tamer when I discovered hair gel. I guess you could say I almost had an afro until hair gel took an inch or two off my helmet.

As I sit here stroking my chin thinking, I wonder how I can change my appearance. I’m not balding, so I don’t need to shave my hair down to nubs or go bald yet. I don’t like facial hair since it gets in the way of my food that I’m shoveling into my mouth…although I would get jazzed finding kernels of leftover food in it when I’m hungry. Oh look! A crouton from last Tuesday in the left quadrant of my beard. A long sideburn or mutton chop would do the trick, but I always think of Hall or is it Oates with their funked out sideburns. Too much.

Should I get a piercing? Naw. I don’t want metal on my face. It reminds me of the days when I had braces and that was horrible. My teeth ached and my cheeks were always cut up. I remember when I got the braces off and how slick my teeth felt. It was like licking a Hall’s cough drop. I kept doing it, but unlike a Hall’s cough drop my teeth wouldn’t dissolve doing so. It took me a good year to stop licking my teeth.

A mustache might work but again with the food thing. If I did grow one I would want to have one of those handlebar mustaches. They just look cool or maybe eight other people and I would think so. At Christmas I would hang ornaments off of it.

I’ve always thought about growing wings or a tail. That would be neat. I thought I had sprouted some wings one time only to find out it was an ingrown hair on my back. It still hasn’t stopped me from trying. I keep trying to have pigeons bite me on my shoulder blades figuring one of them has got to be radioactive and that would cause me to grow wings, sorta like the radioactive spider did with Spiderman. Those lumps of birds can fly so why can’t I.

If I was taller that would be great too. I threw some fertilizer on my Dr Scholls in my shoes to help spur along my growth. It didn’t work, but now I have some mushrooms and I what I believe are brussel sprouts growing out of my shoes along with some bean sprouts. I microwave my shoe and eat right from it when I want a quick snack. Maybe eating my little harvest will add a few inches to my frame.

I have some gray hair now. I’m not sure how I’d look with all gray hair. I don’t think I want to dye my hair. If anything I would dye it green or blue since those are my favorite colors. Why go with Auburn Nut Brown hair when I can do Metallic Aquamarine Synthesizer Azure Blue or MASAB for short.

Dang, I just remembered I forgot to cash in a winning $3 scratch off lottery ticket when I was in New York. Back to my look..

I could get a tattoo. Then again, I know some people that had to get theirs taken off and it was painful for them. I could do some teardrops next to my eyes. That seems to be in yet. But I’d rather get a tattoo that would double as a cover for an age spot or basal-cell carcinoma. It’s like a win-win tattoo. Plus I could disguise it as a map of an area I’m always getting lost in. I could look at it when I get lost and find my way back home. A 3-win tattoo.

This is way too much thought I’ve put into changing my look. Cartoon characters wear the same clothes and always look the same and they are ok with it. If looking the same is good enough for Beavis, Sponge Bob, or Snoopy then I should be ok with it too. I’ll let nature make the changes and I’ll just roll with it. Eat your heart out Joan Rivers and Bruce Jenner.

My favorite Ohio wineries for the wine are Harpersfield, Markko’s, and St Joseph. Laurello is getting there. Some have great atmospheres and views like Lake Shore Inn, Ferrante, Harpersfield, Laurello, South River, and Spring Hill. Some just have nasty wine, but as the years go by I’ve seen some of those same wineries turn the corner and they now make spectacular wine. Old Mill is unique. Grand River can be fun. Chalet Debonnet has a great outdoor facility.

Stay tuned for a future blog on California wineries.
