ODE TO GEORGE JEFFERSON
Sherman Helmsley, George Jefferson on the Jeffersons show, has passed. May he rest in peace. Here is my ode to him:

Oh George.
Ye feet did wonders for Bentley’s back.
I used to watch thee before I hit the sack.
Young was I when I watched thee on Saturday nights.
And now you’ve walked down the tunnel to the white light.
It was the Muppets, Hee Haw, and Alice.
This line in order to rhyme will end in chalice.
Followed by Love Boat and Fantasy Island that evening.
Soon afterwards I would be dreaming.
No longer will Florence pester you each day.
Instead you will dry clean angel suits and party.
Deep-voiced Weezie had one cool name.
Not so much was next door neighbor Tom Willis who was lame.
Ralph the Doorman always expected a tip.
But all you gave him was the flip.
Lionel your son was rarely to be seen.
Your gig ..it was to dry clean.
Ye are now truly in the deluxe apartment in the sky.
Moving on up.
Moving on up.
