SALES TAX INCREASE
On Sept 1 the sales tax in Ohio will increase by .25%. The increase will hurt the poor the most since it is a regressive tax. The Ohio state legislature and governer voted for the increase earlier this year. If you were planning a big ticket item purchase try to do so before Sept 1. The sales tax will now be the following in these counties:
Cuyahoga – 8%
Lake – 7%
Summit – 6.75%
Medina – 6.75%
Geauga – 6.75%
Ashtabula – 6.75%
Portage – 7%
Lorain – 6.5%
