REDEEMABLE AT WALMART COUPONS
Here’s an issue that comes up with internet coupons that many cashiers and stores don’t get right. If a coupon says “redeemable at Walmart” or “available at Walmart” can it be used at other stores? Yes they can.
Here is what it says on Coupons.com site:
•Our coupons are valid manufacturer coupons and should be accepted at any retailer that accepts printable coupons. Verfication of coupon can be confirmed. Review How can I verify the coupon is valid? article.
•A coupon may say Redeemable at Walmart or Available at Walmart but that is a suggestion to use it at that store. As a valid manufacturer coupon, it can be accepted by other retailers.
Most cashiers think, and understandably, that the coupon is only good at Walmart. Like the rule says above it doesn’t say ‘can only be used at’. It’s a general message that, in essence, is trying to get you to shop at Walmart for the item. It works though since most people think it is only good there. To prove it I was able to use the .75/3 coupon for Chicken of the Sea tuna cans that said ‘reedemable at Walmart’ at Giant Eagle. Stores that scan the coupon will find it works since it is just like any other manufacturer coupon.
At Giant Eagle this week I was even told by a cashier that she was told by management that they had to take these type of coupons, but only if they scan (which most all do).
If it is a store coupon and not a manufacturer coupon, then that is where it will only work at that specific store. So now you know. Something tells me there will be lots of cashiers finding out they were wrong. Of course, some stores can state that they don’t take those type of coupons in their policy, so print their store’s policy to show what is acceptable there. GIANT EAGLE EOFFERS CHANGES
Giant Eagle no longer stacks their eOffer with a manufacturers coupon. I called Giant Eagle and they told me that you can only use one or the other. They also said it was always that way, but I know that wasn’t true as I’ve had an eOffer show up after I used a coupon for the same item. A lot of stores have stopped stacking after the Extreme Couponing show. Sad to see Giant Eagle do so. The only prevalent stacking method still around is being able to use a manafacturer and store coupon on the same item.
Giant Eagle has been taking away some of it’s savings programs and changing its coupon policies ever since they started lowering their everyday prices. A bit of a savings shell game to try to match up with Walmart. A lot of customers focus on the everyday prices, but when you look at what more you can save past that you will find more savings with Giant Eagle. For instance, Giant Eagle has sales (Walmart doesn’t have sales – they have ‘lowering prices’ deals, but not ‘sales’). Giant Eagle also has Fuelperks, Eagles Nest (free babysitting!) and double coupons. Giant Eagle needs to focus on the differences now and not the sameness if they want to compete. Maybe even a ‘we guarantee our sales item to be in stock’ or something about keeping their lines short since Walmart has trouble with each.
MAXPERKS CHANGES
OfficeMax was bought out by Office Depot and the changes with their integration are slowly taking place. One of the programs hit was the Maxperks program at OfficeMax. It was a great program as I got a lot of freebies from it. I noticed that the Maxperks deals dried up this year so I figured it was only time before they announced something about it changing . I definitely don’t buy as much there because there aren’t any good Maxperks deals. It all changes next year. Beginning January 1, 2015, their combined loyalty program will be called Office Depot® | OfficeMax® Rewards. The new program will be similar to the current Office Depot Rewards® program.
Here are the changes to the program:
•In 2014, essentially nothing changes. You can continue to earn and redeem MaxPerks rewards as you have been through December 31, 2014.
•MaxPerks Rewards earned as of December 2014, will be sent out in January 2015.
•Starting January 1, 2015, you can redeem your unexpired MaxPerks reward certificates in both OfficeMax® and Office Depot® stores and online.
•On January 1, 2015, Office Depot® | OfficeMax® Rewards will be your new loyalty program and you will begin to earn reward points on your qualifying purchases.
What’s New?
Some of the changes and benefits you can look forward to in January 2015 include:
•Now, you’ll get 10% back in reward points on ink, toner, paper and copy/print/ship services.
•You’ll only have to spend $100 on these to earn 1,000 points and get a $10 rewards certificate.
•You’ll still get rewards for recycling your ink and toner cartridges.
•And, you’ll be able to take advantage of additional members-only offers.

This story is sad, disgusting, and tantalizing. When I worked at Jote’s (now Marc’s) back in the day we had to sweep the floor at the end of the day. You’d find your usual garbage, but sometimes you’d find stuff that made you scratch your head and wash your hands thoroughly. I found diapers, panties, and money amongst other items. A time or two I found scat. Yep, people would just dump right there in the store. Yuck. But this next story takes the cake.
Apparently, a woman allegedly tried to steal items from a South Euclid Walgreens store and then defecated on the floor when confronted by management. Yes, you read that right.
