STUB HUB
Find tickets people are trying to sell for hot summer events like Lady Gaga, the Oak Ridge Boys, and Ozzfest and others into next year. I’ve found some deals for tics that were being sold by people just trying to unload their tics at a great price. If only Josie and the Pussycats would have a concert… I’d be all over that one.

DEALS O’ THE WEEK
Monday, July 19th, 2010TOP TEN THINGS I THINK I’M THE ONLY ONE TO THINK
10) When I’m in a bad mood why do I always seem to hear people making noises eating.
9) Can ghosts see me do everything I do…
8) Because most stores have security loss prevention beepers and cashiers that don’t disable items with security packaging when you buy them, should I run just to goof with them when they go off.
7) Would I look better as a blonde, brunette, or redhead.
6) When I go to heaven will I find out the truth behind the lost city of Atlantis, The Bermuda Triangle, UFOs, Bigfoot, and ?
5) Do my cats like me as a person or are they only nice to me because I feed and clothe them?
4) If I tan and put highlight streaks in my hair, will that make me hot.
3) Will all my slow-dance practicing lead me to an appearance on Dancing with the Stars.
2) When I smell a fart, why do I try harder to make doubly sure that it is a fart that I smell.
1) Why do I want to eat exotic food-like flavor or smell varieties of toothpaste, shampoo, and candles like guava-strawberry, kiwi, and vanilla passion fruit.
YOU CAN’T HANDLE THE TRUTH
Did you notice how the truth came out after LeBron left for Miami. Dan Gilbert, the owner of the Cavs, had some choice words about LeBron’s departure and about LeBron. Why didn’t he say them to him beforehand? Did he? Why make it public? I noticed that a lot of the way the Cavs management handled issues was not directly with the players. From what I read it seemed liked they were too afraid to tell them what needed to be said. Or they seem to imply that it was understood which is the easy uneffective way out and eventually comes back to haunt you. There is nothing like face to face communication that lets the listener see and hear what the person is feeling. E-mails or texting doesn’t allow for showing needed visuals and audibles when communicating.
The problem lies in what one person thinks the other person is thinking or how they think they are going to react. LeBron most likely wasn’t being told the truth during the past decade as he became a superstar. It’s like telling your boss some bad news or feedback and then they get mad at you for telling it, even though they needed to hear it. Why would you want to upset someone that you wanted to sign a long-term contract?
But without the truth a monster is born and thrives. Corrections can’t be made without valuable feedback. People appreciate being told what they need to hear, maybe not as they are being told, but in time as they reflect back on the situation. By telling something that person needs to hear it shows that they care. If it is way off base and just selfish opinion, then that’s another story.
Sometimes people’s own issues or opinions get in the way of the truth. Politics is a good for that. They fail to see their own issues before pointing out others. In turn they get angry and refuse to work for the common good. It’s a ‘those without sin cast the first stone’ kind of thing. In other words, get your house in order before casting aspersions.
When someone makes a decision you take it at face value and form your opinion without knowing all the reasoning. It’s not like they give you every exact detail for the decision. Ron Harper got traded by the Cavs because they thought he was involved with drugs and such. They didn’t want that type of element on the team. Problem is in retrospect that didn’t look to be the case and it may have cost them a championship. Had they communicated directly with Ron themselves, they may have worked it out.
Notice how LeBron said he brought this franchise to places it’s never been. Huh? They played deep into the playoffs and almost made the finals during the Brad Daugherty era and Miracle of Richfield. He did take the Cavs to the finals…once…and were blown out. Umm, I guess you could say that was special. When people are “crowned” with accolades and not enough “bring you back down to earth” moments, they tend to inflate their accomplishments and it also keeps them from striving to do better and play harder. Same goes for a kid that always hears good things about themselves from their parents. When they get out in the real world there is no “shelter” and sometimes they are shocked by the treatment and can’t learn to cope so they get into things that aren’t good for them.
Do you know a friend or family member that if you told them what you really felt would go off on you? If you had told them these things when they first started happening would they have reacted more calmly?
Actions can get blame while inaction typically won’t. So people don’t act. People tend to go the path of least resistance. But doing so will only bottle up negative energy that will explode once it’s let out. Did you ever blow up when you finally opened the spigot? All that pent up negativity comes out all in a nonconstructive wrong way.
Do you have someone in your life that tells you like it is? How do you react when they tell you the truth. Granted there are ways to tell you the truth and sometimes it needs to be told gently. But sometimes just putting it all out there is more effective. Primadonna’s don’t get created in a day. But why LeBron wants to play Robin to Wade’s Batman says something too. LeBron just seems to get his energy and motivation from Harlem Globetrotter-type plays and not from winning.
By the way, George Steinbrenner died this past week. He grew up in Cleveland. He missed out on buying the Indians by a mere $100,000 or so and then he decided to buy the Yankees which cost less than the Indians did at that time. Can you believe it. Missed out on him being an owner. Shades of Steinbrenner with Gilbert though. Now we need a new owner for the Indians with deep pockets and a good front office.
Steinbrenner was a person that would not hold back telling exactly what he felt and in maybe not so endearing terms. He did it his way. But at least you knew how he felt. And he told off superstars as he would anyone else. But think about it, he fired Billy Martin and yet wanted to hire him back and he said yes! And that was even though he verbally beat him up all the time. But most people appreciate the truth as long it’s the truth. It may hurt, but if someone tells you the truth even though they know they might not get the best reaction, it shows they care.
If you talk behind someone’s back about how they are and not to their face, don’t you think it shows that they don’t really care about you. I regularly tell people what they need to hear. Hi, you’ve got tulip-wilting, horrendous bad breath and have crazy eyes. I point at them with both fingers and say you can thank me later while I tip my fake invisible hat and give a wink. I then use my fingers to outline a heart in the air and say, “you’re special to me.” Changing the world one person at a time…
POPULATION
How many states have a smaller population than Cuyahoga County?
Answer: ELEVEN – Alaska 698,473, Delaware 885,122, Hawaii 1,295,178, Maine 1,318,301, Montana 974,989, New Hampshire 1,324,575, North Dakota 646,844, Rhode Island 1,053,209, South Dakota 812,383, Vermont 621,760, and Wyoming 544,270. Cuyahoga County has a population of 1,393,845. All US Census Bureau stats from 2009. As much as people say Cleveland is losing population, the county that Cleveland resides in is still bigger than many states and in a much smaller footprint.
