GOBUS
GoBus has a new stop at the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority’s Cedar-University Station. GoBus is Ohio’s federally funded rural intercity bus program with stops all across Ohio. The service connects rural communities with healthcare, education and other services.
GoBus added five new routes across Ohio in 2026, including northern Ohio service connecting Cleveland to Ashtabula and Toledo with stops in Elyria, Norwalk, Sandusky, Port Clinton and Fremont.
Prices are based upon the distance that is being traveled. Ticket base fares are either $5, $10, $15, $20, $25, or $30. LOOK WHAT I FOUND
When I’m shopping at stores that have Catalina machines, the ones that print coupons at the register, and there are coupons on them the previous customer(s) didn’t take I’m more than happy to grab them. On occasion, I notice people have tossed them into a nearby garbage can. All that is in the wastebasket are mostly paper items like receipts and coupons. Recently, at a Meijer store self-checkout I noticed a handful of freshly dropped coupons sitting on top of the wastebasket and no yuck around it so it was safe to take. Being the curious type and frugal shopper I nabbed them. Glad I did. Aside from a smattering of regular coupons was one for a free gallon of milk. Bingo! Didn’t the customer even want to make sure there weren’t some good ones before tossing them? Not the first time I’ve found a freebie coupon. Sometimes high value coupons are still on the Catalina too. I get just leaving it there if it’s for cat food and you have a dog, but that’s like leaving free money at the register. Maybe some customers are so coupon averse they don’t want to bother with the coupons. Alright by me if they want to leave them for me to find!
$1 DINNERS
Recently, after coupons and discounted certificates my restaurant bill was just over $1. It happened twice this month. Here’s how it worked.
We visited Sora, a sushi restaurant in the East Bank of the Flats. We went during Happy Hour, so they had food and drinks at a discount. The best was the ramen for $12. Delicious and healthy. I used a certificate I got on clevelandindepents.com. I got a $50 certificate for $25 on their half off sale. Plus using a card from their Deck (a deck of 52 cards for area independent restaurants with $10 off $30 restaurant deals) I got another $10 off. In the end I got around $90 worth of food and drinks for $1.58 plus you have to figure in the $25 I paid for the certificate and around 50 cents for the card from the Deck plus tip. I also booked it through Open Table to earn points. When you get 5,000 points you can get a certificate for $40! Most restaurants offer 100 points per reservation, but sometimes they offer 1,000 points. I recently got to 5,000 points to earn a $40 certificate.
I noticed on the Sora receipt that they charged an extra 2.5% to use a credit card. They charged me only 4 cents off the $1.58 total because they charged me the 2.5% after all my discounts. I earn 3% when using my credit card at restaurants, so I would’ve made money using my credit card too.
At Mason Social in Mentor my bill was only $1.05 after using a $30 certificate I got on clipp.com that cost me $10. I went during late night happy hour, so I got around $45 worth of food and drinks for $1.05 plus the $10 and tip. The tip was off the total before the discounts.
