ALL YOU CAN FLY PASS
Frontier Airlines will be offering an all-you-can-flyGoWild! pass for 2023. JetBlue offered an all-you-can-fly pass back in 2010, so it’s been awhile since this type of pass has been offered. The cost is $599 the first year. The pass will auto-renew at $1,999 the second year unless you cancel in time. Fly between any of the U.S. destinations, including Puerto Rico.
One big catch. You only get to book travel a day before the flight. Also, applicable taxes, fees and other charges apply at the time of booking. You will also be charged for carry-ons, checked bags or advance seat assignments. The fees and all can add up to make their $19 fare sales more attractive than the all-you-can-fly pass. Flights are subject to availability and that “last seat availability is not guaranteed”. Flights on the pass will not earn miles or count towards earning Frontier elite status.
The pass will be eligible for use beginning on May 2, 2023, aside from these blackout dates:

CRIME DOESN’T PAY
Black Friday and Cyber Monday have a lot of great deals. For some, even those prices are too much. They want everything for free, even if that means stealing them.
Goods stolen from stores increased to $94.5 billion in losses in 2021, up from $90.8 billion in 2020, according to a new report from the National Retail Federation (NRF). The top 10 US cities in terms of shoplifting incidents are: 1) Atlanta; 2) Baltimore; 3) Washington; 4) Chicago; 5) Dallas; 6) Houston; 7) Los Angeles; 8) Miami; 9) New York; 10) Phoenix
Besides merchandise stores also have their hand baskets and carts stolen. Some stores put locks on their carts that will cause them to lock up once they are outside the perimeter of the store. Some hand baskets have alert tags on them to keep from being stolen. I noticed that at a CVS recently.
I’ve noticed items behind locked screens that I never before saw protected from thiefs, even body wash! Maybe they feel dirty stealing so much and want to wash away the sin. The most frequently stolen items are chewing gum, Advil, The weight-loss drug Alli, Cellphones,
Claritin, Rogaine, Red Bull energy drinks, Dyson vacuums, Bumble and Bumble hair products, Cover Girl cosmetics, Crest Whitestrips, and
Deodorant.
Self-checkouts may save a store some money, but Wegmans got rid of their self-checkout app because of a high theft rate. Where trust is part of the equation, some people will take advantage of it.
Shoplifters cause prices to increase. Stores have to make up for their losses, so they charge more to make up for it. I mean if a person wants to eat all the chewed gum from under a table, go for it because it’s free and for the taking, but I think ‘Though Shalt Not Steal’ is in the Ten Commandments for a good reason.
Mentor Police have a program that has them undercover and plainclothes at retailers and they have a good success rate catching thieves. They’ve found a link between shoplifters that need money to fund their drug habit. Yeah, drugs never leads anyone to a successful path in life.
One time when I worked retail at Jote’s when I was young and there was a suspicious couple that came into the store. My Spidey senses knew they were up to no good. Sure enough, they went to the cigarette aisle and started putting cartons in bags and left the store without paying. A Manager I notified followed them after calling police and after almost getting hit they were apprehended a short time later. Of course, they tried stealing cigarettes and not multi-vitamins or frozen vegetables. They do know their market.
With stores short-staffed they don’t have enough people to be the eyes and ears of the store. Even electronics areas aren’t manned when they need to be. Sometimes there is only one employee in the whole store. Not good.
One of the issues causing an increase is some stores don’t prosecute or even pursue shoplifters. Police are contacted about half the time shoplifters are caught. They don’t want to deal with the legalities or harm they may cause to employees. Criminals, knowing this, will take advantage of stores that have lax security. Nonetheless, approximately 10 million people have been caught shoplifting over the last 5 years.
There are tons of jobs available, so for someone to have to resort to stealing is sad. After all, crime doesn’t pay, but jobs do. They will eventually get caught. Once they have a record it will make it harder for them to get a job when they have a criminal record. Criminals obviously don’t think about future consequences. The angels on their shoulder need to get a louder megaphone.
Surprisingly, a 2008 study by Columbia University concluded that shoplifting was actually more prevalent among people with higher education and income. About 75% of shoplifters are adults. Many usually make a purchase along with shoplift!
As an example of how all criminals eventually get caught, the Chrisley parents from the show Chrisley Knows Best both got sentenced to jail for fraud. They seemed like they were a wholesome family. However, Todd was sentenced to 12 years in prison and his wife to 7 years. They need to rename the show from Chrisley Knows Best to instead, Chrisleys Know Squat and the Taste of Jail Food.
