BEST REWARDS PROGRAMS FOR 2012
So which stores had the best rewards programs this year? I’m passing out grades for the most popular rewards programs. Or if I were in elementary school I would be passing out shiny star stickers. Back ten years ago the rewards/rebate programs were much different. There were many more rebate programs with lots of great rebates. Back then you were able to get more razors, shampoo, and hair color for free. Here are my grades for this year.
Rite Aid UP Rewards/Single Check Rebate: B
Pros:
Lotsa great UP rewards deals.
I like that you can get more than one offer on most of the deals.
Enough deals to keep you coming back each week on a good variety of items.
Video Values coupons add to savings (can stack with manufacturer coupon).
Cons:
When they moved the UP rewards to load onto your card automatically they didn’t print on the receipt the amount of rewards you had on the card.
Rewards expire way too quick.
Not a ton of freebies each week.
Would like to see Video Value coupons loaded to card and not have to watch the video to get them.
Hardly any good freebie rebates this year – Single Check rebates going away next year might lower the grade.
CVS Extrabucks: B-
Pros:
If it wasn’t for the ton of Extrabucks freebies over the week of Black Friday, the grade would be much lower.
More 20% – 30% off deals.
Added bonus double bucks.
Lots of Extrabucks Kiosk coupons.
Cons:
Not as many Extrabucks freebies as in years past.
Not as many $4 off $20 purchase kind of coupons as in years past.
Rewards don’t expire as quick as UP rewards and Register rewards, but still too quick.

Pros:
Some great freebie Maxperks deals throughout the year, especially office supplies.
Allowed multiple limits on Maxperk deals.
Lots of freebie school Maxperks.
Cons:
Maxperks deals tailed off at the end of the year.
Not many tech freebies like in year’s past.

Pros:
School deals were great.
Easy to fill out the rebates online.

Seemed to be less deals this year, especially over Black Friday
Walgreens Register Rewards/Balance Rewards: D
Pros:
Lots of Register Reward deals on Thanksgiving/Black Friday.
Cons:
Very few Register Rewards deals, especially for items of use (no, I don’t need any more brain food vitamins or sleep medication).
New Balance Rewards program stinks – confusing and you usually have to buy more than one item.
When doing the Register Reward and Balance rewards it would take off a coupon.
Can only use one manufacturer coupon per item (Register Reward is considered a manufacturer coupon).

It’s nice that they have some type of rewards program that earns credits for money spent there.
You get 5 double $1 coupons having the card. Whoopee!
I did get some surprise bonus $3 and $5 credits during the year.
Cons:
Not many deals. More of a loyalty card than anything.
The cost to now drive to the nearest K-Mart after many of their stores closed to get the $1 doubles is not worth the cost in gas.

7) After Rumpelstiltskin awakes from his 30 year slumber he will get arrested for failure to pay his utility bills.
6) The hot new diet food will be Crest toothpaste.
5) You will find #8 at least 29% more funnier if you read it backwards.
4) The big new fad will be to finally know all the neighbors on your street by name.

M Cellars – now open right across from Red Eagle Distillery in Harpersfield on South River Road – great looking place – the owner took us around and let us taste the wines in the barrel – awesome new wines to be unveiled – I really liked the Meritage and Chardonnay – out of the current bottled wines we got the Reisilings – ice wine was like honeyed winter. The winemakers are a young couple.
