PRICE GUARANTEES
Save those receipts! No need to fret if you find a lower price advertised. Many stores are offering price guarantees if the price of the item you buy goes ower within 30 days.
Some credit cards extend price matching up to 90 days. Typically it’s 30 days though.
In order to price match an ad is needed or proof that the item is identical. Some retailers are having manufacturers give them their own unique model number even though it is the same as what other stores sell in order to keep from having to price match.
Some stores will give you an additional 10% off the difference in price.
RECEIPTS
Be sure to keep all your receipts in case items need to be exchanged or returned. Keep them all in a designated place. They are too easy to lose track of otherwise.
I’ve been finding some deals on my receipts too. I got a free appetizer for completing a TGIFridays survey. Most have info on contests that you can enter. I also did a survey for Officemax that got me $5 off a $25 purchase. On the back of receipts you may find businesses that advertise deals. So don’t toss them away or jam them into the nether regions of the crevices of your wallet or purse never to been again.

GOOD DEEDS
I sure can’t wait for Santa to come this year. I’ve been a good boy minus a few minor overblown incidents, but enough I think to make it on Santa’s good list. Just to be sure I decided to do some good deeds. I figured Santa gave bonus credits to absolve any naughty deeds, so I thought I’d cobble some good deeds together to help overlook any bad that Santa caught me doing.
My first good deed was having a free haircut day. I put a stand at the end of my driveway and waited for customers. I couldn’t find any scissors so I used some hedge clippers I found in the garage. The blades were worn so it would pretty much bend the hair and not really cut it. That was until I yanked on it and a gob of hair that came out. The customers didn’t seem to like that so I gave them some lollipops I found in the back of a storage cabinet. I’m not sure they were lollipops though since they were chewy and not crunchy. Nonetheless, they were free. Beggars can’t be choosers.
My next good act was to pay the parking fine of meters that were about to expire. I made sure I got ahead of the meter maid before he could write a ticket. I eventually ran out of quarters so I had to improvise. At first I asked the meter maid all kinds of questions about the city and their life to stall him. What’s your favorite color? What’s the name of your cat? Did you ever milk a cow? About how much do you weigh? How come I never see any evidence of squirrel scat?
The meter maid caught onto my game and scolded me before trying to bolt by me. No worries. While I was asking questions I tied his shoes to a meter. Plus a little duct tape with 50 written on it over the meters kept him from seeing how much time was really left on the other meters.
My next good deed was different. I felt bad for hotels and restaurants that get low ratings online. I asked them to give me their best room and service and make their best food for free and I would give them high ratings. I didn’t want to be dishonest about it and just write bogus reviews with high ratings, so I figured they would be ok with giving me stuff for free in exchange for better ratings that will get them tons more business. After all, every .1 increment in ratings helps.
Afterwards, I went to the mall since I know that is where Santa is at and that is where he gets the skinny on what people want for Christmas. I waited an hour to sit on his lap as the line was long. By then I was so nervous that sweat was just pouring out of every orifice of my body. I had a visible wide ring of wetness around the armpit of my t-shirt. No matter as I was about to let Santa know all the good I’ve done so that I got what I wanted for Christmas. Who needs Black Friday when I can just tell Santa what I want and he brings it to me on Christmas.
I told Santa I wanted a bike, a llama, a poster of a cat with the saying hang in there, and dice. Not a whole lot because I didn’t want to sound greedy, but that is what I really really wanted. I spent the next 45 minutes telling Santa all the aforementioned good deeds. He was impressed. Either that or he was passed out. I couldn’t tell which.
Before I left I sang Take on Me by A-ha to Santa to show him I meant business as everyone knows singing a song shows heartfelt conviction. The mall must have been closing because they helped walk me out of the mall after that.
So wish me luck. On Christmas Eve I’ll be waiting for Santa and wide awake as a chipmunk after it drinks a 2 liter of Mountain Dew. I’ll have some Archway cookies and Squirt pop ready for him. I’m sure he’ll be sick of milk so Squirt will be a welcome reprieve that may also get me bonus presents. Always thinking of all the angles…

VOLLEYBALL PLAYOFFS
This summer we won the championship after many years of coming up empty. We were in the playoffs again for the indoor fall session. We won the first round. In the finals we had to play a team we haven’t beat all year. We won the first game. The next game they got too far ahead and we couldn’t catch up. So it was down to game 3. We were down 20-17 and they needed to score one more point to win. A quick timeout to tell the team we played great this year win or lose and off we went to try for a miracle. We scored one then another. Before you know it we’re tied. They scored and then they need one more to win again. Then we score for a score of 22-21. We need one more to win. They set the guy that I have to block. He’s a good spiker. I’m no Kareem Abdul Jabbar, but I have hops. I jump as high as I can to block his spike, he crushes it …out of bounds! We win the championship! It felt great since we haven’t won this league in years too. The team we played has won almost every session these past few years. Time to plan a championship parade.
